Join two local makers in Port Fairy for a day of fun and creating. Spend the day with expressive artist, Joanna McOwen and ceramic artist, Belinda Hartwich from Bei Creative Studio to learn beginners' acrylic painting and clay work.

You will start the day being surrounded by colour love! You will learn simple acrylic painting techniques, mark-making and layering whilst working towards a simple, abstract landscape inspired piece to take home.

After lunch you will spend a fun afternoon with your hands in clay creating your very own hand-built vases to decorate your home. Slow down, feel the earth between your fingers and get creating.

No experience is necessary. Suitable for beginners or those with prior experience.

Date: Saturday 21st August 2021

When: 10am - 4pm

Where:  The Outdoor Room, Port Fairy Community House, Railway Place, Port Fairy

Instructors: Joanna McOwen and Belinda Hartwich.

Painting Inclusions

All materials from paints to brushes, paper to canvases are included in the workshop. If you have your own brushes you would like to bring along please feel free. You will leave the workshop with your finished canvas and all your practice pieces.

Clay Inclusions

At the conclusion of the class, you will be able to select your glaze colour from a range of my colour samples. (Workshop cost includes the glazing/firing process). What I will do after the class:

+ I will transport your items to my studio, and carefully watch the drying process.

+ Once dry, I will load the kiln to bisque fire your ceramics for about 10 hours with a cooling process of 24hrs+.

+ Then I will glaze your items in your chosen colour, from here your pieces will go back in the kiln for their final glaze firing of around 13 hours and a cooling process of 24-48 hours.

+ The total process may take up to 4 weeks. Once finished, I will contact you, to arrange local delivery (Port Fairy/Warrnambool) or collection in Warrnambool.
+ If postage is required, this is an additional charge, at cost and arranged when your pieces have been fired.

*Please note that sometimes things crack either during the drying process or in either bisque or glaze firings. This unfortunately is out of my control and the nature of ceramics. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me via email: beicreativestudio@gmail.com

What to wear:

Wear comfortable clothes that you wouldn’t mind getting paint or clay on. Feel free to bring an apron or an old hand towel to cover your clothes
